Happy birthday to me.
I'm a hundred and three.
Something something I don't like your face.
I completely forgot it was my birthday today, so I suppose if I had a surprise birthday party I would have been genuinely surprised.
Today we merged the Ohnd, mcsA and mcOhnD forums in to one giant Voltron of a message board. Check it out at co-opp's shiny new forum. Okay, it isn't that shiny, but it's merged. That's the important thing. We (meaning d3viant, the fluffy little genius behind this whole shebang) still needs to sort out everyone's ranks and permissions and so forth, and of course the templates/themes, but it's lookin' real good so far.
I've been playing around in Crysis' somewhat crippled Sandbox2, and I've come to the conclusion that it's just about the best thing ever. I'm really looking forward to the final version when the game ships, along with entities and prefabs that actually work.
Probably the thing that takes up the most of my time is spawning shit and then blowing it up. Honestly, the destructables are so much fun to destroy:
I've starting making my own little map, I duped the demo's SP level (named "island"... great name there CryTek, I wonder how long it took you to come up with that one), deleted everything, chose a small little island and started building. I've got guys and boats patroling, and waypointing. I've even got a guy peeing in the bushes. Good times. The whole flowchart thing is really crazy when you get your first glimpse at it (especially if you're looking at one of CryTek's ones that come in the Single Player level) but once you get the hang of it you'll be scripting complex events all over the place.
If anyone reading plans on making a map, I suggest that you take it easy on the explosives. The AI love shooting red barrels. Seriously, I can be running around on the other side of the island and shit will be randomly exploding from AI shooting where they think I am (apparently inside gas tanks and red barrels).
Well the Interweb downage extended beyond the "worst case scenario" timeline. "At the very latest, it'll be Monday" he said. We didn't get our net back until Wednesday.
The reason our 'net was down was because Internode, our ISP, increased their pricing quite a lot. This comes after taking down their News Server and removing their 3DGamers mirror. So we decided to cut them loose.
We're now with iiNet in case anyone's wondering. We have an extra 20GB a month and we are paying $10 less (than what we were paying before the price increase).
Unfortunately, for some reason our line wasn't eligible for the churn process, so we had to manually disconnect from Internode and wait for iiNet to process our application. If we churned we would have been Internetless for less than a day.
My Design and Interactive Animation project was due on Friday. Unfortunately ZenPhoto (which I use for my gallery) doesn't let me upload Flash files, so until I find an alternative way or look for a mod etc. I'm just going to embed it right here. It might play a bit choppy since it's been resized.
The assignment was to create a character animation in Flash with a song using no text to convey the story. There were also time and file size limitations and what not. The track I chose was Massive Attack's Butterfly Caught.
As I mentioned in the previous episode, my host is changing servers. Well, that's gone through and I've updated everything to reflect the new server settings. As always, there's no doubt I've missed something, so if you find any errors, specifically MySQL errors then please comment or contact me. Thanks <3
There's a possibility that I will be without Internet up until Monday week (Not next Monday, but the Monday after). This is the "Worst Case Scenario", hopefully it will only be down an hour or so.
My host, Ian, is changing servers and minute now, which will probably need me to change some DNS values for my domain name.
Without 'Net, I won't be able to change the DNS so the site will probably go down until I can.
I can still check my e-mail at Tafe, so if you need to contact me, that's the way to do it.
Catch ya on the flip-side.
Happy birthday man, the big 2-0-1-4. Wow man, you're fuckin' OLD.
So today I went for my "Learner's Permit".
I had to do 8 give-way questions, 32 road rule questions and 10 road safety questions.
I'd done the online test like a million times last week, so I was fairly confident.
Suprising myself, the test-over-see-er and my mother, I got every single question right. In the back of my mind I heard a deep voice yell, "FLAWLESS VICTORY!".
Then I had to spend half an hour waiting in the cashier's line. Then I had to spend another half an hour waiting for, what I believe to be the most computer-illeterate woman I have ever witnessed, attempt to fill in my information in to her fancy computer database.
Then I had my photo taken. My eternal soul, as awesome as it is, was captured in a single piece of film, which I may or may not recieve in 7-10 days.
So I now have a temporary Learner's Permit to drive with.
Now all I need is a place that sells L-Plates. And six months and 50 hours worth of driving lessons before I can progress on to my Piis (ROLF NINTENDO JOKE!121"!~).
